Sunday, March 5th, 2017, promoted by DLF of Arezzo, there will be an interesting walk along the path of the old railway Arezzo-Fossato di Vico (“Ferrovia dell’Appennino Centrale” – FAC; Central Apennines Railway).
The program provides for the departure at 9:30 am from the Gragnone bus terminal, near the famous “botteghina” (little shop), from which you start on foot passing beside the “Villa Albergotti” to cross the route of the old railway built between 1882 and 1886 to connect Arezzo to Umbria.
Will be visited the old tunnels and viaducts still viable (the others were destroyed by the Germans retreating in June 18th 1944).
The route goes up to Torrino station, before falling back down to “Villa I Bossi“.
At lunch will be a stop to eat a packed lunch.
The route winds of about 11 km immersed in nature and involves the passage on paths and in dark and muddy tunnels, so are recommended so non-slip shoes and a flashlight.
No registration fee is required, but is recommended a reservation at “Arezzo DLF” or at “Happy Train” agency travel in Via Piero della Francesca 5, tel. 0575 300 712.
