By a research and analysis about the truffle found a few days ago, we have established that it is the not edible species of Tuber excavatum Vittadini.
The rind or peridium is smooth, ochraceous and has at the bottom a central cavity quite pronounced.
The gleba or pulp, is formed by white veins, shaves and converging towards the cavity. It does not have a particular smell and has an hard consistency that drying becomes strong like a rock.
You find it throughout the year and does not reach appreciable size.
Its marketing is PROHIBITED due to the bad quality.
It is colloquially also known as: tartufo legnoso, tartufo scavato, durello, durone, caciolla.
