Truffle Hunting at Lake Como

Lake Como, also known as Lario, is a pre-Alpine lake in Lombardy not far from Milan, which belongs to the territories of the provinces of Como and Lecco.
In the northern part, you mention the municipal territories of Dorio and Colico, descending, the town of Bellagio divides the two main branches of the lake, assuming a singular inverted Y shape, which end with the town of Lecco in the eastern part, and of Como in the west. The two sides of the lake differ considerably and thanks to the particular conformation of the territory, they are visible one with the other.
If the western part is characterized by wooded mountains and steep ridges, embellished by luxurious villas with wonderful gardens, witnesses of history and art, the eastern part is more rugged and rocky;
overall the landscape is steep and falls to the deep waters of an intense color.

It is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, well known thanks to the decantations of famous figures of Romanticism and in particular to the famous novel by Alessandro Manzoni “I Promessi Sposi“.
The morphological differences with Lake Garda have influenced the type of tourism of the Lario, more selected and looking for something different. Moreover, the microclimate favored the development of another product that gives prestige to these lands: the truffle.
The literature has for long reported the presence of precious hypogeous mushrooms, and in recent years has increased the culture and research, especially the summer and winter (uncinatum) black truffles.
