Truffle Hunting in Verona

Verona, together with Venice, is recognized as one of the most romantic Italian cities.
Immediately the mind go to the dramatic love story of “Romeo and Juliet” wrote by Shakespeare. In fact, a place of great tourist attraction is the courtyard of Juliet, where you can admire and visit the balcony and a little further away the tomb and the museum dedicated to her.
However, this is not the only place in the Scaliger capital to be dedicated to love. There is another terrible legend, called “il pozzo dell’amore” (the well of love), which said that the young Corrado, in a trial of love, threw himself into the well for his beloved Isabella, who, struck by the gesture, threw herself also to follow him in death.
In general the whole city is pleasant to visit walking quietly along the streets of downtown, so as to admire Piazza Bra and the famous Arena di Verona (Verona Arena), where beautiful opera concerts are held in summer. Alternatively, you can refresh yourself with a drink in Piazza delle Erbe (Herbs Square), from which you can climb the Lamberti Tower to admire the view of the city, or let yourself be fascinated by the frescoes on the facades of the Mazzanti House, among the few remaining from the Renaissance period.
At sunset, it is very impressive to admire the city from San Pietro Castle, the “balcony of the city”, which can be reached by crossing the Roman bridge “Ponte Pietra“. Finally, following the course of the Adige, we arrive at the Scala bridge that connects to Castelvecchio.

The walks, can be accompanied by dinner with the many local products protected by the DOP (PDO, Protected Designation of Origin), IGP (PGI, Protected Geographic Indication), DOC (Designation of Origin Controlled) and DOCG (Designation of Origin Controlled and Guaranteed) brands, sipping a good wine from Verona hills, at Christmas time end with the legendary pandoro of Verona, and why not, make an aphrodisiac dinner based on truffles.
This precious mushroom can be found in the territories of Verona Province, such as on Baldo Mount, Lessini Mountains, Morainic Hills or on the shores of Lake Garda.
